Helpful Hints for Using the Really Readable Books for Dyslexic Children at Home

BookLife Publishing has provided these helpful hints to support your dyslexic child’s reading efforts:

  • Try to provide a quiet space for your child to read, with as few distractions as possible

  • Try to allow your child as much time as they need to decode the letters and words on the page

  • Reading with a learning disability can be frustrating and difficult. Try to let your child take short, managed breaks between reading sessions if they begin to feel frustrated

  • Build your child’s confidence with positive praise and encouragement throughout.

Testimonials From Parents of Children With Dyslexia

“My son was diagnosed as severely dyslexic at 8 years old. Although he had specialised tutors, he also enjoyed using Reading Eggs for practice and kept going with it into his late teens without any coaxing. He found it fun.”

– Marianne

“My daughter is dyslexic and struggles with reading. I homeschool her due to classes being so large she does not get the one-on-one she needs to succeed. Since starting Reading Eggs she has excelled dramatically and loves to read and spell. Absolutely love this program. She looks forward to her course every day. Thank you for giving her a chance to learn and grow!”

– Felisha

“I have a son with autism and dyslexia. He has a hard time pronouncing letters and spelling. With this app he has improved, he is also now reading short easy sentences.”

– Maria

“My daughter was diagnosed with dyslexia at the beginning of the school year. I used Reading Eggs as a supplement to her lessons. She has come up 83 on the Lexile. This is an awesome program.”

– Jennifer

“This reading program has helped my dyslexic son go from being a non-reader to reading in three months!”

– Megan

“My daughter is in kindergarten and started falling behind in her reading. She was really struggling. Her teacher and doctor wanted her evaluated for dyslexia, but most resources are overwhelmed [and she couldn't get an evaluation] for 6–12 months. I started [to] research and came across an article that listed apps that could be helpful for kids with dyslexia. Reading Eggs was on that list, so I gave it a try. She played it all weekend long for hours. Normally I wouldn’t want her on her iPad for so long, but she was progressing, dramatically! You can’t believe the difference it made! It’s been two weeks and she went from not being able to put sounds together to reading short sentences now. I am so relieved and excited, and she loves the app. I am so grateful.”
