Designed for beginning readers in Reception through Year 2, Fast Phonics not only makes a great learning resource for beginning readers, it also supports students with learning gaps in their phonics knowledge.
Immersed in a snow-capped Yeti world, students embark on a sequenced learning map and work their way through 20 fun-filled levels known as Peaks.
Each Peak covers a specific set of letters and sounds that are aligned to the Letters and Sounds phases, consisting of 24 different parts. Each part is sequential, building on what is learned previously.
Students get to read up to four decodable phonics books in each Peak, allowing them to apply the skills learned. Quizzes are also included at the end of all Peaks, to assess their understanding and comprehension, before they move on the next level.

Here’s a detailed breakdown of what you can find in each teacher resource.
The weekly planner is your go-to lesson plan for teaching systematic synthetic phonics. It does all the planning for you, so you can have more time for other important tasks.
Learning objectives are set out in each weekly planner, so you know exactly what sounds and letters to teach. You can also find a list of high-frequency and new decodable words covered in that week.
You get a total of 41 weeks’ worth of detailed lessons from R to Year 2 level. All lesson planners are sequential and divided into days of the week and grouped into four key areas with detailed instructions: Review, Teach, Practice and Apply.
Phonics activities are included in each of these areas, so you have a clear idea of what to do next.
Each deck corresponds to what is taught in Fast Phonics Peaks, to reinforce your students' learning and complement your in-class phonics instruction.
Whether you choose to present them on your interactive whiteboard or print them as teaching cards, these decks are a great reminder to help students recall and consolidate new words learned.
Fast Phonics' reporting feature makes it easy to review lessons. Once students have completed an activity or Peak, it shows you a snapshot of the date it was done, the phonemes learned and their progress. The report also allows you to quickly identify any learning gaps or strengths, and plan for your next activities according to their needs.
Hang these beautifully illustrated sound mats on your classroom wall as a reminder for students. Or use the flashcards when it’s time to teach some tricky words (there’s even a script to help you out when using the flashcards). All flashcards and sound mats also correspond to the letters and sounds taught in each Fast Phonics Peak, making it seamless and easy.
Prime your students’ fingers for some fine motor skills work. Print out our handwriting and phonics worksheets to let them practise their writing skills.
To inspire and nurture a love of reading, there are at least two to four printable decodable readers/books at the end of every weekly teaching guide. These books also match the words taught in each corresponding Fast Phonics Peak.
Wait, there's more! You also get 90 additional phonics decodable readers in the Fast Phonics section of The Library to choose from.
